What is the Top Gun Contest?

The Top Gun membership Contest rewards the top 5 individuals who recruit the most new members.

How does it work?
Each member who sponsors a new member receives an AAAA Coin and credit towards recognition as an "Ace". Each member who sponsors a total of 5 new members each year receives an AAAA Coffee Mug and is eligible to win the AAAA's "Top Gun" Contest.

What are the prizes?
As the "Top Gun" individual who sponsors the most new members during the year, the 1st place winner receives:

  • $300 cash award
  • An expense-paid trip to the AAAA Annual Convention which includes: registration fee, tickets to the convention functions, cocktail tickets, housing for the duration and airfare.

The 2nd place Top Gun receives:

  • $400 cash award
  • A plaque commemorating the membership efforts

The 3rd place Top Gun receives:

  • $300 cash award
  • A plaque commemorating the membership efforts

The 4th place Top Gun receives:

  • $200 cash award
  • A plaque commemorating the membership efforts

The 5th place Top Gun receives:

  • $100 cash award
  • A plaque commemorating the membership efforts

Chapter Net Gain Awards

The Chapter showing the greatest net gain in membership from January 1 – December 31 wins the "Chapter Net Growth Contest". There are four competitions based on a Chapter's size so that every Chapter has an opportunity to win. Additionally, the Chapter with the overall highest percentage of gain, regardless of size, is also recognized. The five winning Chapters receive a plaque presented at the Membership Meeting during the AAAA Annual Forum.

  • Master Chapter (301-750 members)
  • Senior Chapter (101-300 members)
  • AAAA Chapter (under 100 members)
  • Largest Percentage of Net Gain (regardless of size)

Awarding Officer:

"The Order of Our Lady of Loreto recognizes individuals who are worthy of special recognition for outstanding support to the Army Aviation Family and Army Aviation Community."

Awarding Officer reads the Award History:

"According to tradition, the home in which the Virgin Mary was born was miraculously moved by angels in 1295 from its original site in Nazareth to its present site in Loreto, Italy. Since 1920 Our Lady of Loreto has been recognized as the patron saint of aviators. This award celebrates the sacrifice, support, security, and caring provided by those at home and in the larger Army Aviation Community that make it possible for Army Aviation soldiers to accomplish their missions despite changes in circumstances, location, and separation from loved ones."

Awarding Officer reads the recipient's accomplishments.

Awarding Officer presents the recipient with the Order of Our Lady of Loreto Pin and reads the following:

"Appearing before a most arduous and discriminatory committee of tried and proven Army Aviators and Aviation Patriots, be it known that __________(name)__________ was tested and found worthy of special recognition for outstanding contributions to the community of Army Aviation and is hereby inducted into The Honorable Order of Our Lady of Loreto."

"The Lady of Loreto is the embodiment of sacrifice, support, security, and caring. So too, the aforementioned individual embodies these qualities. Therefore, the President of the Army Aviation Association of America Inc., with the concurrence of the Chief of Army Aviation, acknowledges that this woman is due special honor and respect for now and posterity."

"Given under my hand this _____(date)_____   day of __________ ."

Our Lady of Loreto Check List

  • Make sure the nominator is a current member of AAAA.
  • Make sure the nominee has not been awarded the Lady of Loreto before
  • Fill out the nomination form, 100 word limit summary, 1500 word limit for supporting information.
  • Submit nomination to your local Chapter for Chapter President Approval.
  • All approved nominations must be submitted to National for our records.

THE ORDER OF OUR LADY OF LORETO

BACKGROUND

In 2002, COL Tony Crutchfield requested that the AAAA create a parallel program to the Order of Saint Michael to honor spouses and other supporters of Army Aviation. Established in 2004 as a joint venture between the AAAA and the US Army Aviation Center (USAAVNC), the Order of Our Lady of Loreto recognizes individuals who are worthy of special recognition for outstanding support to the Army Aviation Family and Army Aviation Community.

According to tradition, the home in which the Virgin Mary was born was miraculously moved by angels in 1295 from its original site in Nazareth to its present site in Loreto, Italy. Since 1920, Our Lady of Loreto has been recognized as the patron saint of aviators. This award celebrates the sacrifice, support, security, and caring provided by those at home and in the larger Army Aviation Community that make it possible for Army Aviation soldiers to accomplish their missions despite changes in circumstances, location, and separation from loved ones.

CRITERIA

A nominee for the Order of Our Lady of Loreto must have demonstrated conspicuous contributions to support the Army Aviation family and community.

DOCUMENTATION

The official nomination form should be given to the local AAAA Chapter President for approval. The Lady of Loreto Order Form must be completed and returned by the Chapter. These forms may be reproduced locally. The nomination should include a photograph of the nominee in any size.

SUBMISSION

Any active AAAA member may submit the official nomination form to their local Chapter. If there is no local chapter, nominations should be emailed to Deb@Quad-a.org.

APPROVING AUTHORITY & SELECTION

The Approving Authority is the President of the local AAAA Chapter (allow 30 days for processing). In instances where a local AAAA Chapter is not applicable or when the local President is nominated, the Approving Authority is the National Executive Board, AAAA (allow 60 days for processing action). When the nomination cannot be processed in a timely fashion by the National Executive Board, the Order of Our Lady of Loreto Selection Committee consisting of the Chairman of the AAAA Awards Committee and two members of the Awards Committee appointed by the Awards Committee Chairman, are authorized to act for the National Executive Board (allow sixty days for processing).

AWARD CERTIFICATE & LAPEL PIN

  • Recipients shall receive a Certificate and a Lapel Pin.
  • The Lapel Pin may be worn at any time.

NOTIFICATION & PRESENTATION

Award nominees will be notified by the local Chapter President. The nominator will be responsible for induction of the recipient into the Order of Our Lady of Loreto and presentation of the certificate and pin.
