A CH-47 Chinook and crew from Company B, 1st Battalion, 126th Aviation Regiment out of Stockton, California, near the 14,179 ft. summit of Mt. Shasta as rescue crews retrieve the body of one of two missing hikers from a violent snow storm; the other hiker managed to hike to safety under his own power.

Honorable Mention – “Predawn Preflight”

The advantage of being a ground unit organic to an aviation unit: you can get to remote locations quickly and safely. The disadvantage: pickup zones with thousands of pinball sized rocks.
